Lately, many 3.0 beta users were under the false impression that they would have to re-purchase any iPhone application that they wished to update or reinstall.
This error message, encountered by users with iPhones running the 3.0 beta, is actually part of a new feature that links your iPhone to your iTunes account. This feature prevents iPhone users from logging onto iTunes from a friend’s iPhone and “reinstalling” applications, meaning they could avoid paying for the application altogether.
Surprisingly enough, Apple has yet to make a statement regarding the implementation of this feature, something that could have greatly reduced what can only be called a panic (albeit a rather small one.)
