Here we have another bit of good news in regards to Internet tethering, well good news for Vodafone Australia customers anyway. It seems that customers wishing to do so will be able to for free.
“Until that time any customer who wishes to try the new tethering service can do so using the data allowance included on their plan,” according to Vodafone.
According to the details, users are allowed to tether, however any data they use via tethering will be taken away from their overall monthly alloted amount.
Additionally, the iPhone 3GS will be free for the 16GB model with a calling plan of at least $69 per month, and the 32GB model will be free with a calling plan of at least $114 per month. Both, of course require a two-year agreement. The $69 per month plan comes with $400 of calls and 1GB of data transfer and the $114 per month plan comes with unlimited calls and 2GB of data transfer.
Finally, the tethering will also have a paid option in the future. Well, in actuality it will be an offer to add more data to your existing plan. The extra data will be priced at either $24.95 or $29.95 a month for 1GB or 2GB respectively. Seems to go without saying that for five bucks more per month the 2GB option would be the way to go. This extra transfer will be available beginning in August.
Now, if we could just get some official AT&T related tethering news here in the US. Of course, we are also still stuck without MMS.
