With all the hype surrounding the iPhone 3G S it seems that the iPhone 3G has taken the back seat. That said, there is a little bit of iPhone 3G related information that is worth mentioning.

For one thing, the iPhone 3G will still be able to take advantage of iPhone OS 3.0, which in my opinion makes it relevant. But that aside, lets talk about the pricing and availability, or in the case of the 16GB model the lack of availability.

The current iPhone 3G is going to be seeing a price drop, I would imagine that many have already seen the newly lowered price tag — now just $99. But keep in mind that price is for the 8GB iPhone 3G and that will only apply to new customers or those who are eligible for an upgrade. Otherwise, no-contract pricing will be $499.

Additionally, the 16GB iPhone 3G is no longer going to be available. Instead you will only be able to get an 8GB iPhone 3G or a 16 or 32GB iPhone 3G S. Basically, that means if you were hoping to score a 16GB iPhone 3G you may want to act quick because they will only be available until the current stock runs out. Pricing for those 16GB iPhone 3G’s will be $149. Of course, there will always be the secondary used market if you miss out.
