French blog, “Nowhere Else,” recently posted a story in which a brand new iPhone 3GS overheated and left brown streaks on the white 3GS case.
“I bought an iPhone Friday morning 3GS, I normally used and a few days ago, I did the test several apps warning radars in the car when I was a passenger, the apps using the GPS chip as well as 3G, after a while my iPhone was very hot but not burning hot.”
Apple has requested that the 3GS user exchange the device, so that they may examine it in order to determine just what went wrong.
Pictures of the burnt iPhone 3GS can be found here:
Something just like this happened last year when an iPhone 3G overheated and burnt its owner’s leg. [article link]
Luckily, this time, the iPhone didn’t actually injure its owner!
