This latest is being placed strictly in the rumor category, however due to what it is dealing with, I think it is information that AT&T users would be interested in hearing, that is despite the fact that it is not necessarily good news.
Anyway, according to a “source with AT&T” Internet tethering is going to be priced at “around $55 per month.” Of course, I guess depending on how you are looking at this it may be good news or bad news.
On the positive side, it is cheaper than the previous rumored price of $70 a month. On the negative side, I would say that $55 is still on the expensive side.
Additionally, it was also mentioned that tethering will be available “towards the end of July.”

So is this in addition to the 30 dollar per month plan? Or is that included?

Apparently AT&T has just denied this rumor: http://tech.yahoo.com/news/macworld/20090619/tc_macworld/attsquashestetheringsurchargerumors
They don’t say how much it will cost, though.

Or you can just get ClearWire for $30 bucks a month and never need to tether anything. AT&T either doesn’t want to have people tethering, or the price will ultimately be a lot less than $55.

Mostlikely it would be $55 extra the way AT&T doing business. And I’ll bet ya it wouldn’t be unlimited either.

In talking to ATT in Louisiana a few months back. $99 for a USB 3g modem with $99 rebate, makes it free and $60 per month for 5Gig data.
Would I pay $25 more to get tethering legally I don’t use it that much yet. Had an air card with T-mobile while back cost $20 per month, Unlimited access.
