Despite seeing the resurface of this rumor yesterday, this is still a little surprising to see. Yes, an official Sirius XM iPhone app has been released. The app, which is being called Sirius XM Premium Online is available as a free download, however as expected it will not be free to listen.
If you want to give it a try, the app does come with a 7-day free trial, but after that ends you will have to pay $2.99 a month. The app offers access to “120 Sirius/XM online channels of music, sports, news, talk, entertainment and comedy.” Additionally, the app will work with both a 3G and Wi-Fi connection.
There we have it, Sirius/XM is now available, but I cannot help but wonder if it will just make existing customers happy or be enough to attract new customers. Personally, I am sticking with Slacker, Pandora and RssPlayer for my entertainment needs.

As a current subscriber I should be able to access this service for no additional charge. I pay nearly $150 a year for my car satellite radio service & this should be included in the price. I may try the free 7 days but will most likely not use it after that expires!

I agree with Greg, we pay a TON for sirius radio and then they have to get us again for this? At one point I thought they were stopping ALL of online listening unless we paid, but it appears that changed that. With the success I have been getting with Pandora on the 3G, I am not certain I’ll be renewing my sub. with Sirius next year.

This app does not provide howard stern. So it is useless.

It doesn’t? oh that is even more stupid, especially if you are paying for it!

I will not be paying if they dont give me howard stern. 3 bucks is fine for all these channels but i would pay at least 3 bucks or more judt for both stern channels. If the pricing is any infication stern is worth 10 bucks all by itself to sirius.

It’s $2.99 for current subscribers per month, $12.99/month if you are not. No way I’m paying that when Slacker, Pandora, Last.fm and a host of others give me radio for free.
