So far all of the tips I’ve read about how to tether, all show how to do it with the 3G iPhone. I’ve tried a couple of them with my 1st Gen phone, and the only one that’s worked successfully is PDANet which I’ve been using for a while now. I have no “tethering” screen under Settings|General|Network.

I just downloaded and installed the Mobileconfig and set it up on my computer and phone and it works fine. It was also really easy to download and set up. Also, on my computer, the internet speed is about the same as 3G on my iPhone.
