It is time to say Happy Birthday to the App Store, which is turning 1 year old. After following the opening as well as the many apps that have become available, not to mention the controversy surrounding more than a few of them it is hard to believe that it has only been one year.
If you remember back, the App Store initially launched on the morning of July 10, 2008 and had just 500 apps available. Of course, in its current form we now have over 50,000 to choose from and have seen the downloads top 1 billion.
Personally, I am a little surprised that we are not seeing this announcement from Apple come with a contest that is similar, if not on a smaller scale than what we saw when the App Store was counting down the 1 billion app download mark. That said, you can head on over to the App Store and see a selection of apps that are described as being a collection of what is described as “some of our favorite games and apps.”
