Yesterday Verizon Wireless announced that they are alright with the fact that AT&T has and probably will maintain exclusivity of the iPhone.
In an attempt to convey this message, Verizon sent a letter to Representative Rick Boucher, “the Virginia Democrat who is chairman of a crucial telecommunications subcommittee.”
In the letter, Verizon Wireless stated, “Exclusivity arrangements promote competition and innovation in device development and design.”
While Verizon doesn’t exactly come out and say it, it’s pretty obvious that they aren’t purusing carrier rights to the iPhone because they have an ace up their sleeve (or at least think they do.)
