Rumor: Apple planning a September 7 event to announced a refreshed iPod touch

The latest rumors surrounding Apple suggest that they are planning to hold a special event on September 7 and that they are going to use that event to introduce an updated iPod touch.

According to the reports, the iPod touch is going to soon be available in 16, 32 and 64GB models that are going to retail for $199, $299 and $399 respectively. These new sizes do make sense based of previous years update patterns, not to mention they will be aimed squarely at Microsoft and their recent Zune HD announcement.

Additionally, it looks like that September 7 event will also bring the introduction of iTunes 9 as well as something called Cocktail that has had Apple dealing with the major record labels. Also, rumored is that fabled Apple Tablet, but that seems much more unlikely to happen (at least in 2009).
