Despite some good news in the form of an actual date for MMS messaging, AT&T is still holding back on another item that is high on the wish list of many — tethering.
In a follow up statement, AT&T let us know that it was coming, but did not even give a rough idea of when. I guess maybe they are learning after taking slack from missing that late summer release date for MMS messaging.
Anyway, look for tethering to come “in the future.”
“We expect to offer tethering in the future. By its nature, this function could exponentially increase traffic on the network, and we need to ensure that some of our current upgrades are in place before we can deliver the expanded functionality with the excellent performance that customers expect.”
This is another item that I hope to see, I have been considering picking up a Sprint MiFi, but have been trying to hold out for a legal and officially supported tethering option for my iPhone. The MiFi is nice and would work well for my needs, but I would prefer to have one carrier and one bill. Lets just hope the future comes soon.

We need another a carrier for iPhone for it is getting too monopolistic that AT&T is getting nothing done.
