Navigon has rolled out another update for their MobileNavigator iPhone app. This update brings the app up to version 1.2.0 and it comes with a few welcomed additions.
To begin with, and perhaps the most important is text-to-speech voice guidance. Now, if that were the only update I would have been happy, after all it is nicer (and much safer) to be able to hear the approaching street names read aloud. In simpler form, this means you can keep your eyes on the road (and off your iPhone) a little more.
Additionally, Navigon has also added an automatic adjustment for day and/or night driving as well integrated iPod controls and the ability to share your location via email.
All things considered this is a nice app, of course with all of the features and all of the data you do have one drawback — the size, which is currently at 1.44GB. With apps like this I am now happy I went with a 32GB iPhone even though I rarely have more than 2-3GB of music or 2GB of podcasts.
And just one more little tidbit in regards to the pricing, while it has been raised from that $69.99 introductory price, it has not gone up as high as Navigon originally stated. Instead of the $99.99 price tag, it seems to have settled in nicely at $89.99.

The spoken audio is really quite good. Compared to Telenav it is the difference between night and day. As for TomTom, they really have to step up their game.

too expensive, still.
You can get a lot of portable GPS for that, with mount and charger.

I am glad to see the text to speech. I had it on my garmin mobile with BB Storm.
Now I hope that the tom tom car kit will be compatible with the Navigon GPS system.
sweet.
