We knew it was coming, but the news still sounds pretty good — NetNewsWire 2.0 has been released and with it comes the ability to keep your feeds in sync with Google Reader.
For anyone that spends any amount of time in Google Reader this sounds like a must have, now with your feeds being in sync, you will not have to worry about reading the same stories more than once. Plus it is easy to set up, just install NetNewsWire 2.0 and login with your current Google Reader username and you are all set.
Anyway, in terms of features NetNewsWire 2.0 is described as being “an entirely new application” as compared to NetNewsWire 1.0. For that I am going to have to take their word because in the past I was using the web app for Google Reader.
The features include the ability to expand and collapse folders, a richer display as well as new up and down navigation arrows and a new application icon.
Additionally, NetNewsWire users also have the ability to save items to Instapaper, send items to Twitter or email without leaving the app. You also have the ability to hide certain feeds from view if you do not want to read them on your iPhone.
In terms of pricing, there are two versions available — one for free and one paid. The free version is ad supported and the paid version is $1.99.
