Good news! The once jailbroken only Snapture camera app is scheduled to become available in the official App Store as of today. And continuing on with the good news is that Snapture does not seem to have been limited in any way, in other words those who have been using the jailbroken version should not be disappointed — in terms of features, but more importantly in terms of pricing.
Just a little bit of what you can expect to see in terms of features include:
- Patent-pending Picture-in-Picture Technology (allows users to view and delete recent photos directly on the viewfinder)
- Multi-Touch Pinch and Pan Zoom (5X max)
- High Speed Multishot: 3 rapid-fire snaps to capture every moment of action.
- Easy Snap: Tap anywhere on screen to take a photo.
Finally, getting back to that price tag, it will launch with an introductory price of $1.99. A quick check of the App Store shows that Snapture is not yet available, but it is still early here on the east coast.

Snapture is no longer supporting Cydia licenses. To get Snapture updates, you’d need to get the Apple version which requires yet another license purchase (although currently marketed as discounted). I think it is a rip off to say the least that they will fail to continue to support their cydia licenses and provided updates that would work on the 3GS. People running on 3.0 won’t be able to buy it anyway because it only works on the 3.1 release. If you have a JB’d iphone, you likely won’t want to upgrade to 3.1 only to pay them for a program you had previously purchased in full. Scumbags.
