TightWire Game Review

TightWire Game Review

Remember those cartoons that showed people precariously walking across a tiny power line a hundred feet in the air. Or going to the circus and seeing a lady ride a unicycle across a line strung at the top of the tent. Well now you can be a tight rope walker! But don’t grab some rope and a unicycle just yet. You don’t have to risk life and limb to walk the line. You can do it on your iPhone or iTouch using TightWire from iBright Studios.

I feel I’m obligated to say that this game is not for beginners or those who don’t usually use the accelerometer for gaming. This game is built on testing your accelerometer skill. That being said, for those who pride themselves on being the titans of tilt you’ll want to check this out.

You’re a chubby man who for some reason is attempting to walk a tight rope over a city skyline. Why he needs to be doing this I don’t know. Perhaps he is escaping a fire, or maybe he’s just trying to get to a box of Twinkies. Anyways, you have to tilt left or right to keep your little fatty from falling to his doom. But don’t just start playing the game cause all you’ll end up with is a squished daredevil. Before you even start playing, make sure to calibrate the game for the angle at which you’re playing (go to the options menu).

As far as graphics go the developers get an A. There’s plenty below for you to look at, but try to keep your eyes on the prize. Your score and time on displayed across the bottom of the screen so they’re less distracting. A nifty little bonus feature is the occasional whistle of high winds that make you feel like your at the top of a building. If you do end up falling then you can look forward to watching your pudgy pal tumble head over heels. A scene that’s funny the first few times, but after awhile is extremely irritating.

I couldn’t get past level three, so don’t expect this to be a quick conquer. But you most likely will find this game addicting. I found it fun to play and pass to a friend and see who did better. If your friends about to beat you then feel free to give him a little nudge to throw him off balance. I would recommend this game for those of us who are a fan of the accelerometer or is at least familiar with it’s use. For the price of just $.99 it’s a great game to pass time.

Verdict: 4/5 Stars
