Remember back just a few days ago when the UK Apple Store showed a listing that was offering the TomTom car mount and the navigation app for a nice price? Well it would now seem we can forget, because that price was not accurate.

Since the news of a good deal began spreading around the Internet, TomTom has offered up a little statement;

TomTom unveils the price of the TomTom car kit for the iPhone

London, 24 September 2009 – TomTom announces today that the TomTom car kit for the iPhone will have a recommended retail price of £99.99

The TomTom car kit will be available this October and will be sold separately from the TomTom app. It will be compatible with the iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS.

All further details on the car kit will be made available soon.

Of course, on the flip side, this little note from TomTom does contain something interesting. It notes the iPhone 2G, which we all thought was not going to be compatible. Is this just an oversight on the part of TomTom, or are they letting us know that the iPhone 2G will indeed work due to the built-in GPS chip in the car mount.

Bottom line, that previously mentioned £99.99 price tag was for the car mount only.
