In a little bit of good news in regards to the App Store, it seems that the official Vonage app has been given the seal of approval from Apple. That said, the app is not yet available, but an announcement has been made that it will be coming. Based on a short but sweet press release;
“Vonage (NYSE: VG) has announced that Apple approved its mobile application for iPhone and iPod Touch. Vonage is currently conducting a beta test and general availability will be announced at a later date.”
And as you would imagine they are not giving away any details just yet. Based on few questions coming from the official Vonage Twitter stream the answer is simply;
“Nothing to disclose right now. Keep an eye out here for details as they come.”
I am not really sure what to expect in terms of the app, but based on other VoIP apps such as Skype, I would imagine that anything coming from Vonage will be limited to Wi-Fi in terms of making calls. Other features that I hope to see included in the app is a way to easily check and manage your voicemail. Assuming this app is done properly, this could be a nice way to take your Vonage number with you on the go.
