Amazon Throws Some Neat Features into its App

Attention online shoppers, Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer, has launched a new free iPhone App which will be called the Amazon Mobile App. Like the name suggests, the app allows users to search the online retailer’s database of products, compare prices and read reviews through a nice simple interface.

Now here’s where things get interesting. Amazon has also included a feature called Amazon Remembers, which uses the iPhone’s ability to snap pictures in effort to find items on their site. This function is particularly useful should you happen upon a gadget or goodie in your travels. The image is then uploaded to Amazon where, after identified, a purchase link from Amazon appears with price.

As is the case with mobile app versions of eBay, Buy.com and a whole host of other retailers, there is an official app and several third party versions to choose from. The official Amazon app is free and available in the app store.
