Amazon Throws Some Neat Features into its App
October 26, 2009 | Stephane Dion

Attention online shoppers, Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer, has launched a new free iPhone App which will be called the Amazon Mobile App. Like the name suggests, the app allows users to search the online retailer’s database of products, compare prices and read reviews through a nice simple interface.
Now here’s where things get interesting. Amazon has also included a feature called Amazon Remembers, which uses the iPhone’s ability to snap pictures in effort to find items on their site. This function is particularly useful should you happen upon a gadget or goodie in your travels. The image is then uploaded to Amazon where, after identified, a purchase link from Amazon appears with price.
As is the case with mobile app versions of eBay, Buy.com and a whole host of other retailers, there is an official app and several third party versions to choose from. The official Amazon app is free and available in the app store.

New as in months ago?
Attention Amazon shoppers, Amazon Mobile came out over 6 months ago. Oh, and this site sucks.
Dude, ha ha ha. This app is so old……..
Wow – I usually don’t post to bash a site but this is ridiculous. I’ve had this app on my phone for….well….ever. Complete and utter fail here.
Hey, smartguys. The update is about the photo function.
There’s a complete and utter fail going on alright. It’s classified under “reading comprehesion” or a lack thereof.
The ability to categorize and price out an item through a photo is worthwhile information to share. I hope the above commentators take a liitle more time to actually read the blogs they’re commenting on.
I can’t say that every entry is about something I was previously unaware of (e.g. I knew about the new photo function from other sources), but often they are. I find iphonefreak a worthwhile site to visit daily. Often the comments for some of the articles are more interesting than the blog itself. That looks to be the case here, if only for “point and laugh” purposes.
Sl x you visit this site daily? So you read the same articles for a week until they post something new?
They’re posting something new daily since I’ve been coming to it.
It was available in the US for a while, but it was just release here in the UK.
