AT&T makes it clear, they did not promise that iPhone tethering would be available by the end of the year

Despite the previous statements that lead most people to believe a tethering option would be available for the iPhone this year, it now looks like that has been pushed back — possibly into 2010. According to a statement that was recently received by 9to5mac;

“Just reading again – where did anyone promise tethering by EOY?  Where did you see that?  We promised MMS by end of summer and ended up being a few days late for that…”

Unfortunately, there is nothing more to say on this, well anything that would be even somewhat polite anyway. But with that, AT&T has inadvertently given me further confirmation that I made a good decision when I decided to give up waiting for a legal tethering option for my iPhone.
