According to a recent posting on Twitter, which came courtesy of Joe Hewitt, who is the developer behind the iPhone Facebook app, it looks like we may be seeing version 3.1 with push notifications a little sooner than later.
The news came by way of a simple tweet, which unfortunately does not go far into detail;
Facebook iPhone update: 3.03 with bug fixes coming soon, and 3.1 with push notifications to follow.
As you can see from the message it looks like version 3.1 is going “to follow” version 3.03 which is “coming soon.” Honestly this really tells us nothing in terms of when we can expect to see a Facebook app with push notifications in the App Store. But on the other hand it is nice to see an update, even if vague, just to let us know that the push notifications have not been pushed aside.
My question is are people still really looking for push notifications from Facebook? For me, I am sure I will use them, but have gotten used to being notified to comments on my photos and the like by email.
