iPhone Has The Attention of the Video Game Industry

Here’s one for you- can the iPhone actually be too popular? Maybe so if you happen to run a company that sells video games. According to recent studies, there are a whopping 50 million iPhone and iPod Touch owners on planet earth and each day the number of these users turning to Apple’s App Store for their video game fix has been increasing exponentially.

The App Store has recently celebrated its 2 billionth software download- In case you’re wondering, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have noticed. These are the type of numbers they’ve been hoping, trying, and dying to achieve.

The big video game software makers have adopted the “if you can’t beat em, join em” ideology and as such firms like Sega and Electronic Arts offer iPhone versions of their popular console game franchises.

The console makers state that they aren’t overly worried as portable gaming has never proven a viable alternative to television gaming in the past but don’t for a minute think that Apple’s continued success at posting numbers that put all other company figures to shame isn’t going unnoticed.
