Jailbreaking news: Geohot getting close to a blacksn0w release

Following up on the success of the jailbreaking tool blackra1n, Geohot appears to be getting closer to offering up blacksn0w, which will allow users to unlock the current iPhone baseband firmware.

In a brief message posted on his “On The iPhone ” blog, and by way of text in an image he gave us this message;

“hello there, this is geohot
this is the most complicated injection i have ever done, and it uses a public command
…prepare for blacksn0w, although i gotta still figure out this zamboni”

Now for most of use, myself included that sounds like a lot of jumble. But perhaps in a little easier terms, that means that he has gotten “arbitrary code running on the baseband.”

In other words, this is good news for anyone hoping to be able to unlock the (current) 05.11.07 iPhone baseband.
