Shift Game Review Will Make you Turn your Head

Many game applications are derived from popular online games that have been played by the masses. Examples of this can be found by simply browsing the app store and finding familiar titles. A recent release to the iPhone and iTouch that first made its debut on the computer screen is Shift. Shift is a simple yet challenging game that requires careful thought and precision finger movement.

Brought to iDevices by the online games giant Armor Games, Shift is somewhat unique when it comes to iPhone and iTouch games. You’re a white figure stuck in a black world, or are you a black figure stuck in a white figure. Well you continually switch as you progress through the levels. At first, all you do is navigate a treacherous terrain filled with spikes, pits, and moving platforms. But eventually, you’ll find yourself trapped in dead end. Well that’s where the Shift name comes into play. You have to shift worlds to find a new way out. Turn the device over and gravity will completely flip. So now the top of the level is the bottom and the bottom it the top. This game requires quite a bit of thinking on the players behalf, you have to know when it’s a good time to shift worlds and when it’s a bad time. Your ultimate goal is to reach the exit door.

The controls for this game are somewhat confusing. Moving left and right is easy enough, just hold down the two arrows on either side of the screen to walk in that direction. Jumping gets a little complicated. While walking in one direction, tap the opposite arrow to jump. This will probably take some getting used to. To shift worlds, turn your device over.

The graphics for this game aren’t much, but they’re not supposed to be. Considering the entire game is designed around a black and white color scheme, there wasn’t much for the designers to work with. However, where the game lacks in visuals, it makes up for in audio. The soundtrack for this game is fun and addictive. Like something torn out of a comedic spy movie, the music fits the game perfectly. The game has a bunch of levels to complete and each can be completed in a few different ways, so users will get their moneys worth.

All in all this is a fun, addicting game. Fans of the game online will obviously love this game. First timers will probably get addicted as well. For the cheap price tag of just $.99 its definitely worth picking up!

Verdict: 5/5 Stars
