In today’s modern world most of us have constant access to the internet. Whether we’re looking for a place to eat, a movie to watch, a product review to read, or help in some aspect of life, chances are we can do it on our iPhone or iTouch. Well what if we could put a virtual doctor in our pocket, so every time we’re faced with a medical problem we can find an answer instantly. Well, a new app by Self Care Decisions, LLC can do just that.
SymptomMD is a virtual medical dictionary designed to give the average person insight into the medical world. For starters, you’ll need to select a symptom. You have four options to do so: Alphabetically, where its at on the body, recently viewed, and search by keywords. While browsing alphabetically, you can browse through a complete list of all the symptoms this app has information on. Know where you’re having the problem but don’t know how to describe it? Browse by location of effected area on the body. Also view recent symptoms looked up by hitting the recently viewed button. And lastly, type in a keyword to search by.
Once you find the symptom you’re looking for you can: read a thorough definition, when you should call for help, personal care advice, and a total summary. Depending on the advice given by the app, you have the option to find local emergency rooms, call your doctor or 911, and read an over-the-counter medication chart to ensure the correct dosage.
Now, keep in mind this app can not replace a medical professional . However, it can be very useful and practical. It could save you time and money on expensive doctor and emergency room visits. All in all for the price of $1.99 it’s a great app to have, because you’ll never know when you could use some emergency medical advice!
Verdict: 5/5 Stars
