TapNext App Review: A PowerPoints Bestfriend

When you think of iPhones or the iTouch, you rarely associate the owner with being a business man or women. However, iDevices have become a must have tool in today’s business world. With countless apps that can do everything from keep track of appointments, to calculate finances, check stocks, and even stand in as a temporary computer, it’s no wonder that iPhones falling into the hand of more and more business people. Well here’s another awesome app the business minded might want to check out, TapNext.

TapNext is an app that allows users to remotely control a PowerPoint or  KeyNote presentation on their computer using their iPhone. The first thing you need to do after buying the app is install the software to your computer. Go to the company’s website, http://www.conit.co.jp/tapnext/index-en.html, and choose which operating system your computer has. Because this app works for both Mac and Windows, you won’t have to worry about compatability.

This app connects to your computer over a Wi-Fi network. If your computer and your iPhone connect through the same Wi-Fi network, then they will automatically sync. However, you can also connect on different networks. All you have to do is enter the code given to you by the software onto your device and it will connect!

This app has the basic buttons you would expect to see: Previous slide, next slide, start show, end show, and setting. However, it also comes with a few bonus features. The first cool feature is the ability to record voice while presenting. So, in the event you have more than once presentation in a day, you can record everything you say the first time, then add it to your presentation. The next feature is the timer in the top left corner of the screen. Scared you’ll go over or under your allowed time? Well just keep an eye on the timer and you’ll be safe.

All in all this is a nifty, useful app that frequent users will enjoy. For the price of $3.99 it’s worth checking out, if you present often. However, if you never present using PowerPoint or Keynote then you obviously won’t get any use out of it. Great for business men and women all over!

Verdict: 4.5/5 Stars

You rarely associate iPhone owners with business? Really? Even though MS Exchange and remote wipe were part of the platform before MMS and video recording?

I wonder if this app works better than iPresenter and Presenter – two $5 apps that I have never gotten to work on our corporate wireless.

I was surprised at the same comment as Rob. That one doesn’t think of a businessperson when they think of the iPhone. I disagree.

Also, the second to last statement is so obvious, as you stated, that it’s really silly to include it in a review. You could add it to the end of *any* review stating that if someone doesn’t do whatever the app does, then they won’t find it useful.
