Verizon Wants a Piece of the iPhone Market

In continuing with yesterday’s post about disgruntled AT&T iPhone users, Verizon isn’t taking any prisoners. In fact the company has begun a television campaign aimed squarely at dissatisfied AT&T iPhone users in effort to lure customers away from AT&T. The ad displays two maps of the United States, each showing 3G coverage, one of AT&T’s 3G network and the other Verizon’s network. Suffice to say, AT&T’s map looks quite sparsely populated next to Verizon’s.

The bad news for the ad execs who came up with idea of course is that even the best wireless service in the world isn’t quite enough to get iPhone users to chuck their phones and Verison knows it.

What’s interesting is that AT&T’s exclusivity on the iPhone runs out June 10, 2010 (eight months from now) and many customers are hopeful that Apple won’t extend the exclusive contract. If the European market is any indication, there’s a good chance that these hopes may come to pass. In Europe the iPhone started out linked to an exclusive wireless carrier and was then was opened up to other carriers once the contract period ran out.

I was a happy Verizon company for many years, but fell in love with the iPhone, if Verizon gets the iPhone I will terminate early with AT&T and go back to Verizon.

    i will too. AT&T sucks

Same thing in Canada. Rogers will lose its exclusivity and Bell will get the iPhone pretty soon.

I was with Verizon 22 years then went to AT&T for the iPhone. I’ll go back in a heartbeat, but only with the iPhone.

I’ll jump boat faster then you can say “AT&T Stinks”!!!

Would you go back to Verizon if you had to buy a new iPhone that was CDMA? Not me.

  7. Rob Says:

At this point I’d rather see AT&T get their act together. Verizon has a much better network but they’re an EVIL company.

I was a Verizon customer and I switched to AT&T for the IPhone and honestly I have no complaints.

I’m a Verizon customer holding out for when they offer an iPhone. I used to have AT&T, and I will make do with my iPod Touch before I go back. The service was lousy.
