App that make me willing to jailbreak: Multifl0w
November 24, 2009 | Robert Nelson

It has been a little while since I last posted something in regards to an app that makes me willing to jailbreak, but this latest should be worth the wait. The app is called Multifl0w and as the name implies will allow the user to easily switch between multiple apps.
This one does require, and actually installs another app during the setup process. Of course, that other app is required and is also one that most jailbreakers have used, or at least heard of. That other app is called Backgrounder, it is a free app that once again as the name implies, will let the user run apps in the background.
Anyway, once Backgrounder and Multfl0w are installed you will then be able to double tap on the home button. That launches Multifl0w and from there you can scroll through the apps that you have backgrounded and left running.
Of course, this does come with a warning, (no it does not have to do anything with a worm) it is a warning about battery life. Backgrounding apps will quickly drain your battery, but for temporary situations it can be very nice. Personally I use background apps when I go running. That allows me to listen to a podcast or audiobook using RssPlayer or Bookmark and still use RunKeeper to track and record my progress.
As far as finding Multifl0w, that is available in the Rock store. There is a trial available, however the full version will set you back $4.99. The second app, Backgrounder is available in Cydia and is a free app.
And just because sometimes it is nicer to see something in action, here is a video of how Multifl0w works…
