If you feel that hours of TV, a mindless job, nagging family members, and the countless other stresses of life are diminishing your brain cells then you need to check out the Brain Exercise With Dr. Kawashima app for your iPhone or iTouch. Although the name implies that your brain will be worked over until tired and droopy, in my opinion the opposite happens. Just like your body gets more energy after a workout, your brain will feel more alive after a quick game.
Brain Exercise is a great way to keep your mind at the peak of performance. The app utilizes different game modes, three of them, to work out different sections of the brain. In each mode you’ll be required to complete three different levels of difficulty to move on. The modes consist of different scenarios like solving math problems, finding patterns, memorization, and recall. However, each level is timed so you’ll have to race against the clock to get the best score.
If you’re just getting started I recommend the Quick Play mode. This will allow you to get acquainted with how the game works and time limit. Once you’ve got the hang of the game, try the Brain Training mode. This is where your mind will be worked and stretched in ways you’ve never imagined in order to train your brain to become smarter and quicker. Lastly, you can try out the Brain Age mode. This mode will assign you a “Brain Age”, try and strive for the ideal which is 20.
The interface and controls for this app are pretty well done. The look is attractive yet allows ease of use and doesn’t take to long to get the hang of. Most of the controls are just touching the correct answer. All in all, I thought this was a pretty well done app. Although I can’t offer any proof of it actually training my brain, I can say I felt like it was working. At $4.99 it is a little expensive, but it’s still worth checking out!
