The current interface for the iPhone isn't equipped to tell you when an app is running in the background, after all. And I agree about the Droid, competition is exactly what Apple needs to be forced to open up. How is running two or three apps any different than running 3G, location services and GPS? I think this is why the Droid phone is so great, it will force Apple into making some changes to benefit all of us. I really don't want to unlock or jailbreak my phone just so I can listen to internet radio and play cards at the same time. Thanks for the quick reply! There's a jailbreak app that allows you to run *any* iPhone app in the background, and it works wonders. Basically, Apple is afraid that people will run too many programs and eat up the iPhones memory, as well as drain the battery very quickly. Until they're comfortable with the iPhones performance in those instances, Apple probably won't allow multitasking. It’s purely software that’s preventing true multitasking on the iPhone. Or is a lack of hardware that currently does not allow this? Perhaps a separate post about this? TIA Devindra, is it possible for the iPhone to run serval apps at a time with just a software upgrade?
