Let’s Golf Game Review: Hit the Greens

Now you can hit the greens without ever leaving home. Let’s be honest, sometimes golf can be plain miserable. Maybe your game is bogged down by bad weather. Maybe there’s a group of impatient hooligans behind you who yell every time you swing. Or maybe a round of golf is just too expensive. Well luckily, thanks to the miracle of technology, we don’t even have to leave the comfort of our own home to hit a few balls. The Let’s Golf app for iPhone or iTouch is perfect for those day’s that real golf just isn’t practical.

Let’s Golf, by Gameloft, is one of the best virtual golf games available in the app store. For starters, the game was developed by one of the best names in the gaming business Gameloft, whom have a track record of great games. So right off the bat, you can expect great graphics and an easy-to-use interface.

The first thing you’ll need to do when starting a round, is customize your player. Currently the app offers four different avatars, each with their own personal strengths and weaknesses. Once you’ve picked your golfer you can customize your player with different clothes. As you progress in the game and earn a better score, you’ll earn more clothing options.

Now you’re ready to hit the course. A unique option in Let’s Golf is the two different swinging options it offers. You can use the classic version of tapping a meter bar, the more precise your tap the better the stroke. Or you can try out the more advanced option of sliding your finger along a power meter. If you’re not very confident you can tap a preview button in the corner to view a rough estimation of where the ball will end up. Just like real golf you’ll have to account for wind resistance and which club to use. You can also spin the ball while in the air by rolling the golf ball in the corner.

All in all, this game handled extremely well and did it while looking good. The app offers up four different playing styles which include: instant play, multi-player, tournament, and free hole. This is definitely the best Golf app I’ve played, however it does come with a hefty price tag of $5.99. Check out Let’s Golf now!

Verdict: 4/5 Stars
