Mission Zero App Review: Environmental News Quickly
November 20, 2009 | Cody Buchanan

It seems like half of the news today is centered around the environment in one form or another. Whether you’re a strong advocate for the environment, a non-believer in the theories, or just an average joe the reality is the news is important. What happens in the environment today can drastically affect your life tomorrow. So how do you stay up to date on all of the latest green news? Simple, check out the Mission Zero app for your iPhone or iTouch.
Mission Zero, by Digital Scientists, is an app designed to bring users the latest news about the environment directly to their iPhone or iTouch. The app is based off of the MissionZero.org website, which has information pulled from over 300 sources. When you first start up the app, you’ll be prompted to choose a topic to read about. Currently the app offers fifteen topics which include: Agriculture, Architecture and Building, Business and Investing, Climate, Communities, Design, Energy, Environment, Food, Health and Home, Natural Resources, Policy and Government, Science and Technology, Society and Culture and Transportation.
Once you decide which topic you want to read about, simply click on it. The app will then display a list of articles under that specific topic. Clicking on the title of an article will show you a brief summary. Next to each title, you’ll see a number which indicates how many readers have voted in favor of the article. The app only shows you a brief summary of each article, so if you want to read more you’ll have to click the “Discuss on Mission Zero” link to be redirected to the MissionZero.org website via Safari.
All in all, this was a well done, informative app that did exactly what it set out to do. The interface is extremely user friendly and runs smoothly. It’s a great way to keep up with environmental news, and with a price tag of absolutely free its definitely worth checking out!
Verdict: 5/5 Stars

You give every app 4 or 5 stars (mostly 5s) on this site. Are the apps really that perfect? Sometimes you write that the graphics aren’t that good and such, but it still scores a 5. What’s up with that??
