The app store is full of “useless” apps that appear to have no use whatsoever. However, when you take time to explore those apps they typically turn out to be fun, addicting, and at the very least a good way to blow some time. A nifty little app that’s recently caught my attention is myLite.

True, there is an endless stream of different lighting apps available on the iPhone or iTouch, but none can do it quite like myLite. For starters, the app can function as a flashlight, but the functionality certainly doesn’t stop there. You can change your light from normal mode to strobe, trippin’, and more! In the need of lights for a rave? Just take our your device and start up myLite. You can even change the color of the light using a color scale, so virtually ever color is possible! Lastly, you can adjust the tint between dark and light.

The layout of this app isn’t spectacular, however it gets the job done. Near the top of the screen, you’ll see the color menu on which you can manipulate color and tint. Below that, you’ll see the effects menu in which you can choose between the different light types. Along the right side of the effects menu you’ll see how often each light blinks per second.

All in all this is a pretty fun app. It’s one of those free apps worth checking out. Don’t expect to be entertained for hours. But who knows? You could be the savior of a party gone dead!
