According to a recently listing job posting, Apple is looking to hire an “iPhone OS Platform Security Manager.” According to that listing;
“The team is responsible for secure booting and installation of the OS, partitioning and hardening of security domains within the OS, cryptographic services, and risk analysis of security threats. The team is made up of a variety of security experts with backgrounds in system security and reverse engineering.”
So, sure the title of this post may have been exaggerated a little bit. But that said, it is also a possibility. Ultimately, the more Apple is able to secure the OS the harder it will be for the rest of us to retain our jailbreaks and unlocks. Thankfully, we already have a few good people on our side including Geohot and the Dev Team.
And with that the cat and mouse game continues. Thankfully though, the side of those wanting to jailbreak and unlock are currently in the lead.

That’s ok. By the time apple gets the position filled with someone actively on the case android will blow by them. At that point I’ll gladly ditch my 3gs. Either that or Apple gets a clue.

@Greg,
Interesting take, but speaking as someone who uses Android (currently an HTC Hero) and my iPhone 3GS on a daily basis. I will say that I love Android, but the iPhone really shines at certain things such as web browsing.

Each time an iPhone firwware is hacked they should bring out an employee, introduce his family, and fire him on the spot.
