PhoneSuit unveils the Primo, a micro external iPhone/iPod touch battery pack

We have seen some interesting products come courtesy of PhoneSuit. They make screen protectors, charging solutions, external battery packs, video projectors and more. Speaking of which, I have a few items sitting in my office for a review and giveaway, but more on that in a future post.

For now, I want to mention the new Primo Micro Battery Pack. This new battery pack seems to be pretty nice looking, and will be able to power up your iPhone and iPod touch as well as just about any other iPod with a dock connector.

The Primo features an 800mAh capacity battery that will offer extra power depending on the device you are using it with. In terms of the iPhone 3G or 3GS you can expect up to an additional 11 hours for audio, 3 hours for video and 3 hours of talk time. The iPhone offer just about the same power, except it adds one extra hour on audio. In terms of the iPod touch you can expect up to an additional 25 hours for audio and 4 hours for video.

Price wise, the Primo battery is $34.95 and is currently available for order with an expected shipping date of November 23. This may be one for me to consider, after all CES is rapidly approaching and power is always an issue. This would be easy and lightweight to toss in my gear bag, not to mention my pocket.

Hi…I wonder if this would cause undue strain on iphone connector…i would like to see a short female to male optional extension made available….

The cool thing is that this one looks small enough to where it would not cause any stress on the connector. Other packs I’ve seen are hanging a few inches off the bottom which would cause problem of bumping it. This Primo seems like it solves the issue.

I am thinking it is small enough to not cause any issues. I have seen products of similar size and not had it been an issue. That said, I could not find any mention of size or weight.

But if you look at the image, it appears to be no larger than the bottom of the iPhone (by the home button).

I’ll just stick to my mophie juice pack air. Although since I’ve got it I haven’t really used it to it’s full potential. As I type this my little battery icon indicates “full” but I like how it doesn’t just hang there for the potential to harm or stress the 32 pin connector of my iPhone.

That 800 mAh does not sound like a lot. My guess is that this means it will charge your iPhone from, say, 50% to 70% battery, at the max.

Nevertheless, that'll mean it's a handy backup in case you've completely drained your phone and need it to stay powered for just an extra hour or two.

Looks like it will keep your phone going but seems a bit bulky to me and would get in the way!!

I think its a great backup plan. Even the price for this primo battery pack is quite reasonable,$ 34.95 should not be an issue for those who have a frequent use of their apple iphone accessories. It seems cool. I have also seen similar iphone battery backup products onhttp://www.wirelessphonegallery.com/apple.aspx
