Snowdome App Review: Get in the Spirit

Snowdome App Review: Get in the Spirit

It’s almost that time of year again. The time of year when stars seem to shine a little brighter, people seem to be a little cheerier, and there’s an unexplainable feeling in the air. The winter holidays bring about one of the most beloved times of year. And people think of all types of ways to show their spirit by hanging lights, wearing holiday sweaters or decorating the inside of their houses. Every year my mom puts out her collection of snow globes, that when I know its time for the holidays.

There’s just something about snow globes that gives me a warm feeling. The image of  am endless twirling dance of the snow inside a glimmering glass sphere that encases and entire winter wonderland is a picture rarely forgotten in the innocent mind of a child. Well what if you could put all of your favorite snow globes into the palm of your hand? Well now you can, and all you need is the Snowdome app and your iPhone or iTouch.

Snowdome, by Yotta Digital, is an app that has somehow managed to capture the very magic of snow globes. The app comes with six different themes that you can choose as the stage for your wonderland. Once you choose your image, you can swirl snow flakes around by turning your device. The app utilizes the accelerometer to move the snow! But the fun doesn’t stop there. You can also choose from six holiday themed music tracks that all sound as if they were pulled off an antique music box. Lastly, you have the option of sharing your location with Snowdome users around the world. The app uses this information to comprise a map of the world with a bright light for every user staring into their snowdome.

All in all this is an extremely cool app. I was surprised at the clarity and mysticism of the snow globes. Which is then complimented by high quality sounds. At $.99 it’s hard to say no to this holiday-pleasing app!

Verdict: 5/5 Stars
