AT&T’s Mark The Spot app; its about you helping AT&T find issues

Over the weekend we saw another AT&T app become available in the App Store, and I have to say this one is a little surprising. To begin with, the app is called Mark The Spot and is a free download.

As to what the app does, that it pretty simple, it will allow you (the user) to “provide feedback on network user experience.” But really what it does is give you a new way to complain of dropped calls, failed calls, data failure, poor voice quality and even no coverage areas.

The app has pre-set buttons that allow you to choose the issue, mark your current location and then determine whether it happened once or more often. Of course, it is all topped off with a submit button. Finally, users will also get an SMS message in return to show that the message was received by AT&T.

To me this shows that AT&T does care about the quality of the network and would like to find trouble areas and get them corrected, but at the same time it also seems to be a Verizon Wireless commercial waiting to happen.
