Dragon Dictation speech-to-text available for the iPhone, free for a limited time
December 8, 2009 | Robert Nelson

Just recently added to the App Store was Dragon Dictation, and it appears to be a pretty nice speech to text app for the iPhone.
To begin with, the app is powered by Dragon NaturallySpeaking and it is available as a free app. Of course that free does come with a catch or two. The price is just for a limited time and the app will self censor. So, if you tend to have a potty mouth then you can expect to see asteriks in place of letters in those words.
Assuming you can deal with the censoring, which honestly should not be an issue for many people, then hit up the App Store and download this before the free goes away.
As far as how the app works. Well, it seems simple enough — launch the app, press the record button and begin speaking. Then after you are done speaking, which can be anything from a simple word or two, a sentence or diatribe you then have the option to send that text by email, text message or save it to the clipboard.
The app was also noted as having an “editing feature that provides a list of suggested words” and a “voice driven correction interface.”
And did I mention, its free.

Watch out as it sends your entire address book to their web site once you agree to the terms…
WOW- it does say that they will take all of your contacts for themselves… I deleted it as soon as I read the agreement. NO THANKS.
Dragon has addressed the contact upload issue. "Regarding uploading of contact lists, we only upload names, not email, phone number or any other personal data. The names are added to the recognition vocabulary so that you can dictate thing like "Dear John Wilson" with higher accuracy. We do not even know which of the names is the actual owner of the phone.
Also US only. The UK I Tunes website doesnot have it,
