The holiday season is quickly approaching. Time to fight crowds at the shopping mall, put up with annoying relatives, and deal with the stress of travel. Chances are you find yourself needing an escape every now and again, but that’s simply out of the question. Well thanks to the miracle of technology you don’t have to be rich or have a bunch of free time to relax. All you need is your iPhone, a few spare minutes and the Easy Relax app.

Easy relax, an app by rockifone, is a basic ambient sound app for the iPhone or iTouch. I reviewed the lite version that was completely free, but still worth checking out. The app comes with 7 different theme sounds that are supposed to relax the mind and body. Each of the sounds have their own positives and negatives, but they all seemed pretty soothing. The app allows you to pick a main sound and add different background noises, so you can create a mix that’s best for you. You can then save the mix onto a playlist and can make your own Relaxation album.

The app allows you to set the volume of each individual sound, name each creation, and name the author. The interface is pretty easy to use and requires just the tap of a finger on pretty much every control. The app isn’t much to look at, however the most important aspect, sound quality, is superb and it’s clear this was made a priority. All in all, this is a pretty well done app for the free price tag. You can also spend $1.99 on an Ultimate version which includes more sounds and features. But if your just looking to mess around or grab some cheap relaxation the lite version works fine!
