PangeaVR App Review: See the World..Without Leaving Home

Everyone wants to see the world. We want to marvel at distant landscapes, see the notable landmarks of the world, and take in the best views on earth. The only problem is most of us don’t have the time or money to do so. So naturally, the next best thing is to check out amazing pictures. But pictures can only capture a fraction of the real scene, that is unless they’re panorama pictures! Well a new app called PangeaVR allows you to gaze at hundreds of panorama pictures around the world, all from your iPhone or iTouch.

PangeaVR, an app by Pangea Software, is an app that holds hundreds upon thousands of breathtaking panorama photos taken by professional photographers around the world. Panorama photos are a series of photos taken separately then seamlessly stitched together to provide a 360 degree view. So, it would be as if you were standing where the photographer stood, and spun in a circle. The only difference is you don’t have to take the time and money to get there.

For starters, you’ll need to have a web connection to access the apps website that holds all of the photos. The photos are sorted alphabetically by photographer and location. Each portfolio has a brief written description that you can read to preview what’s in them. The app holds all types of photos like: landscapes, cities, buildings, building interiors, aerials and more.

To move around the photo, simply use you fingers to flick one way or the other. The quality of the photos is nothing short of amazing. Obviously it’s not as good as the real thing, but they’re definitely something to look at! The app allows users to bookmark a certain picture with the intent that they might one day visit that spot. It also allows users to link up panoramic photos on their own websites to their device. So you can share with friends, family or clients.

All in all, the app is pretty impressive, and fun to look at. I’ve found myself passing time by gazing at the different landscapes I wish to visit. You have two options when downloading the app, either a free version or a $14.99 version. The only difference is the free version needs internet access to show the photos, and the $14.99 version downloads all of the pictures to your device. The free version works fine for me, but you can decide whether to spend the money or not. So check out PangeaVR now!

Verdict: 5/5 Stars
