Super Word Find Game: Is it Really Super?

I’ve played my fair share of iPhone games, most of them action or adventure. However, I occasionally get the urge to play an old fashioned logic game like a word search or puzzle app. You can imagine my joy and excitement when I came along an app called Super Word Find! I could hardly contain my excitement as the app started and I began to imagine all the wonders that awaited me in this super version of an original word find. However, I was surprised at what I found.

Super Word Find did in fact have a few bonus features you might not normally find in your average word search game. For example, you have the option of playing a normal size puzzle, a large puzzle or a super-sized puzzle. The large puzzle requires you to scroll around a mash of nine screens and could require you to search for up to 150 words. While the super-sized puzzle consists of 16 screens and requires 200 words to be found in order to complete it.

That’s basically where the Super in Super Word Find ends. Because you’re playing in just a large area, the app allows you to use the pinch method to zoom in and out on certain areas. This feature may, at first, appear helpful. However, you’ll quickly discover it’s extremely complicated to select an find an entire word while using this feature. If you do manage to locate a word, it’s even harder selecting it! I tried and failed countless times on selecting each word until the point I grew so frustrated I quit.

The app does do well in the looks department. You can tell that quite a bit of time was spent developing the overall look. However, I wish the developer spent more time testing and fixing the various bugs noted above. All in all, there are plenty of word search app that do a better job for a cheaper price. At $2.99 for Super Word Find I would keep looking.

Verdict: 2/5 Stars
