It’s finally that time of year. The weathers getting colder, the holidays are getting closer and some of us are starting to see snow fall outside our windows. Unfortunately, for all of us residing below the snow line we go without a white Christmas or holiday. The closest we get to snow is when we see elementary school kids walking around with their paper snowflakes. Well luckily, thanks to a new app for the iPhone and iTouch, we can get the fun of crafting those snowflakes, with the feeling of snow and both with none of the mess!
The Flakery, by Paul Maciorowski, is a fun little app that allows users to create virtual paper snowflakes and watch as they fall like real snow. When you first start the app, you’ll see a blank canvas on which you can create your artwork. The canvas is a piece of paper folded into a wedge shape, exactly how you would do it in real life. But instead of attacking your paper with a pair of scissors, you can use over thirty stamps to cut various images into your paper. Cut every type of image from hearts, diamonds, curves to more more details figures like clubs, spades, and stars.
Once you’ve created your masterpiece, you can watch it come alive as it unfolds. If you’re satisfied with your work, you have two options. One, you can watch it fall like real snow on your screen and enjoy it. Or two, you can save your creation as a picture and share it with everyone!
The Flakery is a fun, cheap app that can help get you in the holiday mood. It’s fun to see how your creation will turn out. However, don’t expect to waste away hours of boredom making snowflakes, the fun only lasts for so long. At $.99 I would say the app is priced just right. So check out The Flakery now!
Verdict: 4/5 Stars

I’d subtract a star, because snowflakes have 6 sides or points, not 8.
