Browsing the App Store this weekend? Here are six new or updated apps worth taking a closer look at if you are:
If you ever played interactive laserdisc games back in the 80s, then chances are you’ll remember this classic shooter. Taking command of an attack helicopter, you must destroy all the enemy craft in order to save the world! Great anime-style graphics and exciting gameplay.
Ace Combat Xi Skies of Incursion.
The popular dogfighting game comes to the iPhone. With impressive 3D graphics, the concept remains essentially the same as other versions – choose your plane, complete the missions and move on. There are only five missions included, so expect to have to pay for more in the future.
Simon’s Cat in Purrfect Pitch.
Who doesn’t love this cute animated cat? Instead of simply being a collection of videos, Simon’s Cat in Purrfect Pitch is both a Simon Says-alike game and a musical app where you create a tune on a virtual piano and Simon’s Cat sings it back!
An update bought this to our attention. It’s a steampunk version of the classic Pong arcade game, where you use the accelerometer to control the paddle. It has a Bluetooth multi-player option too.
Add some festive cheer to your Twitter client with the Christmas Edition of Tweeterena, one of the slightly lesser known iPhone Twitter apps. Five themes join some Christmas sounds to make this a rather unique little addition to the crowded genre.
Simple to look at and simple to use, Favit collects entertaining tweets from Twitter, presents them to you on screen with very little else aside from the content itself. You can favourite, retweet or follow the author of the message or just swipe on to the next one. As to how much this will interest you will depend on how much Twitter interests you, of course.
