Just in case you ever felt the need or desire to be able to perform a quick background check while out and about, the good news is that there is now an app for that.

The recently released app is simply called Background Check App and just like that name implies, it will let the user perform a background check. The app itself is available as a free download and according to the app description, it will allow you to run ” 3 free checks per week.” Of course, the non-free part comes if you need more than 3 per week, in which case you will need to sign up for the premium service.

The app is said to be able to offer information including the ability to instantly view criminal records, run background checks on your entire contact list, do a person search, search any email address, check property records and find anyone’s online social networks, photos, blogs and more.

Given that, and given the fact that you can run 3 free per week, I decided to download it and give it a trial run — using myself of course.

I did my test using the “Background Check” link, and they simply asked for a first name, last name and a state. Then I clicked Search and waited for the results. In my case, they did not find me, but I will credit that lack of result due in part to me having a super common name.

Then I moved onto the “Email Search” section, and again used myself. This one is simple, just type in the email that you want to search and click “search.” Not surprisingly, this one turned up much better results.

Bottom line, this is a neat app, but I am not sure its one that I would depend on, well maybe not trying to use it for free anyway.
