Just to offer something a little different from all of the rumors, I will mention another app that makes me willing to jailbreak. Of course, I should point out that after the announcement later today, the whole jailbreaking scene is likely to become unstable for a little while again. So if you decide to jailbreak today, be prepared to hold off on any future OS updates for a little while.
That said, the latest app for me is called QuickReply, and just like the name suggests, it will let you quickly reply to incoming messages. The app can be found in Cydia and is available for $2.99.
As far as what QuickReply does, well it will give you a pop-up alert for a new message. Ok, so nothing shocking there, but that pop-up will also include a reply button, and that reply button will open up a new pop-up that will allow you to reply without leaving the app that you were using when the message arrived.
In short, you can quickly reply, but the nicer part is that you are replying without really interrupting what you were doing before. In fact, the app that you were in just remains in the background under the pop-up alert from QuickReply.
But with that, the need for this could all change as of later today, well it could change if Steve Jobs announces that background apps are coming to the iPhone. But at least until then I will continue to jailbreak and continue to use apps like QuickReply.

QuickReply was the first jailbreak app that I bought. While apple should include this feature as part of the OS, it is well worth the couple of $ to not have to close out of you app to reply. Especially nice if you use one of the streaming music apps to listen to music.

I think that apple should back off on trying to stop people from jail breaking their iphones. Why do we need them to approve all the apps? They should have an open platform like android. Here is another app that requires you to jail break your iphone. Its a good one too. {Spy Phone Software}
