CES 2010: TV Hat Is Real, But Looks Fake

Aside from all the huge press events and expensive hardware on display at CES, there are often little gems just waiting for discovery, and the TV Hat could be just that.  Created by SKM Industries, it’s a hat like no other – in that it has a shroud hanging from the elongated brim which has a special pouch at the end for your iPhone or similar device.

A magnifying glass flips down and makes the screen appear far larger, giving a TV experience right in front of your eyes without the need to hold the player or be distracted by sights or sounds around you.  From the odd design to the amusing promotional video, this could easily be a clever joke – perhaps a parody of the ever-increasing iPhone accessory market.

However, the Wall Street Journal has said their demo worked well, so there is certainly one TV Hat out there!  Joking aside, we can see various situations where this would be handy – on an exercise bike springs to mind – and you can’t really complain when it has a $19.95 price tag.  We probably wouldn’t wear it in public though!

Let us know if you’re planning to become, or already are, a TV Hat wearer.  For everyone else, enjoy the TV Hat promo video.
