Rumor: Apple will not be introducing a subscription music service, instead opting for a streaming service

Despite the fact that many have talked about, and long hoped for Apple to begin offering a music subscription service it seems that this upcoming Apple event will unveil cloud based streaming service based on the purchase of LaLa.

Of course, as just about any Apple related story at this point — this is still in the rumor stage but has been mentioned by a “variety of insider sources” as well as had a mention in that recent WSJ article.

According to one source, Michael Robertson, the upcoming version of iTunes will include the cloud based streaming option. Based on his thoughts, iTunes will scan your music, upload any necessary files and then let you access those songs from a remote location using a “personal URL.” Robertson also noted that users would be given a “browser-based iTunes experience.”

Personally, I would be happier to see a subscription service, as I am already happy with that type of setup (yes I am also a Zune user), but would agree that there is some good potential in just having the ability to stream your music only using iTunes.
