Rumor: AT&T to lose iPhone exclusivity on Wednesday

Another day, another Apple related rumor, but in a little bit of a brighter light, this one is not directly related to the Apple tablet. Instead this one is dealing with AT&T and how they may no longer be the exclusive carrier for the iPhone as of this coming Wednesday.

According to Hot Hardware;

“We have been led to believe by an inside source that AT&T will lose their iPhone exclusivity on the same day, though it’s not yet clear what other carrier (or carriers) will be stepping in to also carry the phone.”

So now it looks like we will be seeing the announcement of OS 4.0 and an iPhone that is available with another carrier. Of course, this does not tell us which other carrier will be getting the iPhone. Most are speculating that it will be Verizon Wireless, but maybe Apple is going to do a deal similar to that we have seen with the Nexus One. Sell two models, one locked to the carrier and one unlocked and not subsidized.

Thankfully Wednesday is coming up quickly, then we can finally put an end to these rumors.
