Vocabulator Game Review: Addicting Anagrams

Vocabulator Game Review: Addicting Anagrams

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, word games do not get the respect they deserve. The vast majority of people who download games to their iPhone or iTouch go more for the action or adventure games for a quick thrill. Little do they know that waiting in the word game category is an action packed, thrill based addiction waiting to burst out. People rarely understand just how addicting word games can be. For example, the Vocabulator game by Nexus6 Software.

Vocabulator is a game based off of anagrams. The basics are simple to understand. You’re given a scrambled word from six to eleven letters. Your goal is to find every sub word possible using the letters given to you. Seems pretty easy right? Wrong! First of all, you might think making words out of a bigger word would be easy, but you’d be wrong. Vocabulator comes with an in app dictionary because it lists a host of words rarely ever used in everyday life, and you’re expected to find them!

If you’re intimidated, you can set the difficulty using a few different methods. For one, you can choose between Novice and Expert game modes. Expert requires you to use a highlighted letter in each word you spell. Or you can make a game easier or harder by setting the number of letters in each word and the minimum letters of a word that can be found. The more letters you put in a base word, the more words you’ll have to find. The higher the minimum letters in a found word, the harder you’ll have to work to find them.

The graphics and interface for Vocabulator are basic yet attractive and make for an easy game play. I was happily surprised to find an extensive list of base words, and I’ve yet to play the same base word twice. All in all, Vocabulator is a great, addicting game for only $1.99!

Verdict: 4.5/5 Stars
