YetiSports App Review: Unleash Your Inner Monster

I dare say I’ve whacked more than a few penguins in my day. Now that I have your attention, I’d like to introduce the YetiSports game for the iPhone or iTouch. YetiSports is a game that has dominated the play time of my iTouch for the past few days. At first look, it’s just your average shoot to gain distance game. However this games graphics and fun story behind it make it nearly addicting and here’s why.

First of all, the entire theme of the game is funny. You’re a Yeti in the arctic that entertains himself through a host of fun activities. His favorite game is penguin whacking. Penguins line up on a ledge above your Yeti, then fling themselves down towards you only to be thumped skywards again by the swing of the Yetis club. To swing the Yeti’s club, just tap at the opportune moment. Then turn your device in the correct direction to keep the penguin bouncing and flying for as long as possible. Your goal is to slam a penguin the greatest distance.

YetiSports entered the iTunes application world with a backing of the popular website Yetisports.org. However, avid players of the website will be sad to learn that only one of the games from the website is included in the app. Unfortunately, the developers decided to limit the app to only the Penguin whacking game, although the advertisements will lead you to believe otherwise.

The graphics for this game are above the normal, and it’s refreshing to see people are still willing to take pride in short games like this. It would have been just as easy to throw together a game in a few games, but the developers took the high path and the result is an excellent interface. The only real problem I have with this app is the price. For what you’re getting $1.99 seems about a dollar to high. Other than that it’s still worth checking out!

Verdict: 4/5 Stars
