Created by Australian architects ClarkeHopkinsClarke, the iPad Wall is a conceptual design showing one of the potential uses for Apple’s new baby. CHC are thinking of the environment – and the cost – too, as any real iPad Wall would be created from recycled or refurbished iPads.
Their picture shows a library setting, but other potential applications include interactive art installations, interactive games on a large scale or a speaker or TV wall. It’s not just public uses either as they suggest such a wall could be used as a life-sized iBookcase!
According to the company’s blog, the equivalent product today costs around $250 each, but the increase in processing power and overall ability of the iPad apparently justifies the doubling of the price. As an aside, if you paid $499 for each iPad, the wall in the picture would cost around $125,000. Naturally, the cost of having such a creation in our homes may be prohibitive!
